Once you've established the types of meetings to have and the cadence for them, the next step is to create agendas and processes for running them effectively.
Effective meetings:
- Keep discussions focused on advancing the purpose of the meeting
- Clarify goals and desired outcomes upfront
- Limit live presentations and updates
- Assign clear action items and create a bias toward action
Provide agendas in advance by:
- Circulating 1-2 days prior to allow participants time to prepare
- Clearly stating the meeting goals and desired outcomes
- Indicating how much time will be dedicated to each topic
- Noting any pre-reading or updates to review prior to the meeting
Every meeting should have a clear agenda.
Whoever is running the meeting should prepare the meeting agenda and attach it to the calendar event.
