With the Accountability Chart and Role Scorecards in place, the next step toward maximizing team performance is installing regular one-on-one meetings between managers and team members.
Effective 1:1s should:
- Have a regular frequency or cadence (ex. monthly)
- Follow an agenda focused on the Role Scorecards
- Create clear action items and next steps assigned to timelines
- Incorporate note-taking and documentation for future reference
- Provide space to discuss professional and personal support needed
A performance 1:1 agenda can look like:
- Sharing Wins, Lessons Learned, and Challenges from the Last Period
- Reviewing progress towards goals and results in Role Scorecard (what's working well and what challenges remain)
- Reviewing designated action items from previous 1:1
- Clarifying action items from this 1:1
- Feedback on how managers can better support direct reporting
- Discussion of career development goals and interests when relevant
